Celtic Clockwork by foxvox Celtic Clockwork by foxvox
Celtic Clockwork uses black and white and traditional Celtic spirals in a modern interpretation reminiscent of the gears and mechanisms inside a clock!

(Hand drawn, finished digitally.)

This is stunning. I am enamored by black and white drawings and clockwork gear so this piece is perfect to me.

Thanks! And sorry, I just did this piece in black and white, although I did consider making it more of an old fashioned sepia tone look. Maybe sometime in the future I'll go at it with color and see what happens though - thanks!

No apologies please. I really like the piece.

I was thinking it might be fun to false color the piece in photoshop/the GIMP.

If you're okay with it I'd be willing to give it a go. If you approve I could post the coloring and link back to your pencils.

It's definitely your call though.

Oh, interesting! Sure, with a link back (and an agreement not to sell the resulting colored artwork of course) that would be very cool!

Have fun - looking forward to see what you create,
:)

Very well done! :D I'm always glad when someone does celtic spirals...it makes me sad that all people think about when they hear the word "Celtic" is "knotwork"

Some of the gray areas seem a bit too flat though. I love the gradation on the center circle, and I think you could have made some better choices concerning which parts to do that on and which parts to leave flat. But ovreall, I love it

I was actually going to do the whole thing in just flat colors, but the gradations worked. It was very hard to choose what went where!! ;-)

Isn't it always lol? ;) I have the most terrible time when choosing what will go where on my own work. I'm a very indecisive person.

Amazing! Someone else asked but I'll ask anyways ... how long did this take you? Your talent never ceases to amaze me !

Thanks!! How long? A few days on and off - hand drawn outline, then hand-inked outline, then scanned, and finished digitally. :-) Mostly it took time to get it out of my head and on to ';paper' - heh.

Some very cool designs and an interesting concept for their use. How long did it take you to draw?

A few days on and off - hand drawn outline, then hand-inked outline, then scanned, smoothed in a vector program, and finished in photoshop. Worse part was photoshop - kept changing my mind about things - LOL.

Wow! Spirals! I like it. Interesting technique... the greyed over areas that move into the background. Works well and I like the black, white and grey tones.
